As a loving community of faith, we seek to help each other in times of need. Our elders are available to administer to those who are sick physically or emotionally at any time. We have an active hospital ministry visiting members and friends who are ill or have had surgery. Through the prayer chain, we share the needs of others and pray for each other regularly.
Ministers are available for counseling on subjects such as premarital preparation, financial planning and budgeting, family difficulties, grief, and spiritual needs.
Prairie Hills members are involved in many service projects in the community and around the world.
On the first Saturday of each month, we play Bingo at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Bellevue, Nebraska. We bring prizes such as stuffed animals, candy, quarters, and facial tissues. We help the residents set up and play several games of Bingo from 2 to 3 pm. If you want to participate, join us for an afternoon or bring prizes to church for us to use.
On the third Wednesday of each month, we serve dinner at the Youth Emergency Services downtown center. We cook and bring the food to the center at 7 pm. We serve dinner and eat with the teens who are being helped by the YES program. We also collect toiletries, clothing, and baby items at church to bring to the shelter for the youth. You can help by providing food, serving dinner, or donating items.
We collect non-perishable food at church continuously to share with the church's community food pantry in Council Bluffs. Bring items to the church at any time.
Each Sunday we put coins and dollars into the purple crayon at the front of the sanctuary during the offertory. This money goes to Outreach International, an organization that helps people in poverty around the world.
The youth in the congregation also complete special service projects. We have made blankets for the YES shelter, provided free babysitting to families during the holiday season, recycled paper and plastic, participated in Trick or Treat for UNICEF, and collected money to build wells in Africa.
