Preschoolers watch a faith demonstration.

One of our main community outreach events is our Elementary Day Camp. Omaha Public Schools has six days during the school year that are elementary teacher workdays. The elementary schools are out of session, but the middle and high schools still meet. Our church was concerned that some parents might have trouble finding quality, afforable child care on those days. So we have a free Elementary Day Camp six times per year. We use peacemaking as our theme, with crafts, snacks, music, games, stories, lessons, recess, and breakfast and lunch. We are open from 8 am to 6 pm to provide a safe, fun environment for the children in our community. The 2009-2010 Day Camp Brochure and Registration Form are now available.

Our new Family Fun Night meets on the second Wednesday of each month. Just like at Vacation Bible School, we serve dinner at 5:30 pm and have activities from 6 to 8 pm. This winter, children ages 3 to 11 are invited to Studio Go! Gameshow for lots of fun as we see that with Jesus, everyone wins. In addition to our opening and closing game and music time, we have drama, music, and service classes. A nursery is available for children under 3, and our teens serve as group leaders and class assistants.

Fun making our annual banner.

Teen Connections usually meets on the first Sunday of each month from 12 to 2 pm. Students in grades 7 through 12 eat lunch, watch popular music videos, and read scripture as we learn to connect God and faith to issues in real life such as friendship, success, and fashion. Our teens also chose two service projects to do each year. However, in March and April we have special events planned. In March we will have a Hunger Challenge from noon to noon on Saturday and Sunday the 6th and 7th. This will be a fellowship opportunity and service project to raise awareness and money to fight hunger locally and globally. In April we will be taking a trip to World Conference in Independence on Saturday and Sunday, April 10th and 11th. See the announcements for more information.

Recreation Events occur for all ages each month. These activities include skating, bowling, Disc Golf, a Halloween Rest Stop, and a Back to School Bash. The purpose of these events is to encourage joy and develop strong relationships. Upcoming events include at Easter Egg Hunt on April 4th and a fishing trip on May 22nd.

Worship Opportunities for youth occur frequently. These activities include Junior Church on Sunday once a month, campfires in the summer, a Christmas pageant, and a labyrinth. Each event helps children learn new ways to worship and encounter God.

See the calendar page for current calendars outlining the youth events for this month.
