Youth Activities Information

Teen Connections

Our teens (grades 7 - 12) meet weekly to study and fellowship together. Each Tuesday we meet from 6:30 to 8 pm at a different Scooters Coffeehouse around town. Teens come to the ones closest to them (or go wherever their friends are gathering). We watch popular music videos and discuss how they connect to our faith and our lives. This engaging Bible Study is open to anyone. Check the announcements page for locations.

Bible Buddies

Picture
Bible Buddies is our main children's program. We meet on the second Thursday of each month from 6 to 7:30 pm to give our preschool and elementary kids a chance to learn and play together. From now until March, we will be using our Winter VBS materials, Bold Bee-lievers! Join us for games, science experiments, crafts, music, stories, and more as we learn to deepen and share our faith in God through Jesus Christ. (A fingerfood dinner is served at 5:30 pm for children and volunteers.) Our preschool group is ages 2 to 5 and the elemenary group is grades kindergarten to 6th. The groups start together for the opening assembly, then move into separate rooms for age-appropriate activities.

Recreation Events

Come play with us! We get together each month to encourage joy and develop
strong relationships. These activities include fishing, skating, and bowling. Upcoming events include:
Martin Luther King, Jr's Day Meet Up, Monday, January 16, 10 am - 12 pm. Meet up with us at the Omaha Children's Museum to explore all the exhibits together. We'll gather at the statue to share passes.
Fifth Sunday Fun Day, January 29, 12 - 4 pm. Hang out in the fellowship hall after church for some low-key fun. We'll all chip in to order pizza or Jimmie John's, then play games and watch movies.

Vacation Bible School

Our families gather for a week each summer and two days each winter for a great time learning together. Family dinner is at 5:30 pm. Activities for all ages run from 6 to 8 pm and include games, crafts, music, stories, science experiments, and more. Parents of children under 4 are encouraged to stay with their children to ensure that our littlest ones have fun and learn, too.
Thanks to everyone who came to our Winter Vacation Bible School this year. Pictures are posted at the church. We'll be buzzing about God's love as bold bee-lievers in Planet Zoom at Bible Buddies this spring!

Worship Opportunities

In addition to our regular worship, special events are planned to help youth develop a relationship with God. Ages 4 - 11 have Children's Church on the third Sunday of each month. (January's Children's Church has been moved to January 22nd to allow the children to participate in the worship service on January 15th.) Children are also integrated into our regular Sunday morning worship. In addition to participating in the service, children ages 3 to 12 have worship kits with bulletins, coloring pages, story books, and activities that relate to the week's worship theme.

Service Projects

Picture
Teaching our children the value of serving others is an important part of our youth program. We have congregation-wide service projects four times a year so that we can serve side-by-side and demonstrate to our youth how to give. Our teens also have special service projects.
Bell-Ringing for the Salvation Army. Thanks to all the youth and adults who rang bells with us on Saturday, December 3 and Thursday, December 22.
Care Packages. The congregation will pack and send spring care packages to our troops in February.

Elementary Day Camp

Elementary Day Camp is one of our main community outreach events. We host neighborhood students on their OPS Teacher Workdays from 8 am to 6 pm. Children join us for breakfast, lunch and snacks, as well as activities that teach peacemaking skills. Join us for crafts, science experiments, music, games, stories, lessons, and recess. We are open from 8 am to 6 pm to provide a safe, fun environment for the children in our community. Registration is now open for the 2011-2012 school year. We will have Day Camps on Monday, September 26, Thursday, October 20, Friday, March 9, and Friday, April 27. Brochures and registration forms can be downloaded here. Mail your form to 9370 Military Road, Omaha, NE 68134 or email it to prairiehillsyouth@yahoo.com. All
children grades K-6 are welcome, not just Omaha Public Schools students.
