Youth Programs

Bible Buddies is our monthly pre-school group. Children from 3 years old through kindergarten meet on the second Thursday of each month from 6 to 7:30 pm. We learn a Bible story by playing games, singing, making crafts, sharing a snack, watching puppets, and play-acting. This spring all the lessons center around light, the theme of our Winter Vacation Bible School. The children learn about God, Jesus, faith, trust, and obedience.

Our Elementary Group meets on the third Thursday of each month from 6 to 7:30 pm. Children in grades 1 - 5 dig deeper into the scriptures, learning more about familiar stories and discovering new stories. We play games, sing, read scripture, make crafts, and watch videos as we learn more about God, Jesus, faith, prayer, and daily life.

Teen Connections meets twice a month for grades 6 - 12. On the first Sunday of the month, we eat dinner, play games, watch music videos, read scripture, and worship together. These lessons focus on connecting God and faith to issues in real life such as friendship, success, and fashion. On the third Sunday of the month, we eat snacks and watch a movie on the big screen. Every meeting is from 5 to 7 pm.

We offer a free Elementary Day Camp to Omaha Public School students in kindergarten through sixth grade. OPS has six days during the school year when the elementary schools are closed for teacher workdays but the older children are still in school. Our congregation was concerned that parents would have difficulty finding safe, affordable childcare on those days. So, we offer a free Day Camp from 8 am to 6 pm. Our theme is peacemaking, a skill all children need and a topic that is non-threatening to parents whose children are not members of our church. Our activities are modeled on the four areas of peace at the Children's Peace Pavilion. During the day we offer breakfast, lunch, snacks, games, crafts, lessons, stories, movies, and recess. Here is a brochure with more information. This is the registration form for the final Day Camp of this school year on April 18. This is the 2008-2009 Day Camp registration form for any or all days next year. The Day Camps are partially funded by an outreach ministries grant from Prairie Bluffs Mission Center.

Recreation Events occur for all ages each month. These activities include skating, bowling, Disc Golf, a Halloween Rest Stop, and a Back to School Bash. The purpose of these events is to encourage joy and develop strong relationships.

Worship Opportunities for youth occur frequently. These activities include Junior Church on Sunday once every other month, campfires in the summer, a Christmas pageant, and a labyrinth. Each event helps children learn new ways to worship and encounter God.
